Happy 65th!

This package was created as take-home favours for a 65th surprise birthday party.  The guest of honour's favourite colours are - you guessed it - purple and mauve.  We can create custom tags for any occasion.  The photo below provides a better look at the tag.

Birthday Wishes

Stephanie dressed up this cake pop for a client who was looking for something fresh and colourful.  If you are looking for a 'more is more' approach, Stephanie is your gal.  I am a huge fan of stripes and sparkle so I love how it turned out.  The client was equally impressed!

Better Late Than Never!

A bunch of posts back, we talked about our Halloween-themed packaging.  Rather than rely on the standard black and orange colour scheme, Stephanie decided we should switch it up a bit this year and create something unique.  With this in mind, we put together packaging based on black, lime green and purple.  The results are fresh but still dark and eerie enough to be associated with all the witches, ghouls and goblins that Halloween offers.
I know we should have posted this a month ago but...as the title above stated: "Better late than never"!

Autumn Wishes

When we participated in the Boite de Noel a month ago, we prepared some seasonal packaging to display at the show.  One example is this box of six cake pops.  It is a warm combination of muted autumn colours well-suited for Thanksgiving-themed gifts.
Below is a close-up of the tag.  Another nod to - in my opinion - the most beautiful season.

Familiar Packaging

The posts have been sparse as of late...we know...  However, we have oodles of new packaging ideas to show you so we will do our best to make it up to you over the next couple of weeks.  We have delivered some great custom orders that will provide some inspiration for your own projects and we will post our 2010 Christmas packaging themes.  The Christmas packages provide a nice mix of traditional and contemporary holiday design.

Thanks for everyone's patience and happy reading!

Le Petit Buttercup Closed From October 30th to November 8th

Hi everyone ~

This is just a reminder that we will be closed from October 30th to November 8th.  If you have an order slated for delivery during that time, do not worry - arrangements have already been made to ensure that you will be taken care of.  We will be back to baking and blogging on November 8th!

Six Little Cake Pops All in a Row...

Our punched labels are a great way to not only dress up the cake pops but identify flavours when they are served as part of dessert or sweet table.  We used our standard Le Petit Buttercup colours for these ones but we can customize to any decor!

Boite de Noel

Believe it or not, the Christmas craft fair season is starting! In Montreal, the first fair of the holiday season is the Boite de Noel at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club this coming weekend (October 14th to 17th).  We will be participating this year - we hope you can come out to see our special Hallowe'en and Autumn packaging!

Boy Baptism

We have supplied cake pops to a few baptisms lately. These ones were for a good friend of ours who was planning the event for her sister. She asked us to create something in shades of blue and this is what we came up with. Don't the tags make the cake pops look sophisticated?

Baby Showers

It has been a long time since I have been to a baby shower - my circle of friends seems to have moved passed that milestone.  I have to be honest, I do not miss all the ohhhing and ahhhing over onesies and sleepers or discussing Diaper Genies in great detail.  However, if I was offered a cute and delicious little morsel like the one pictured above, I would happily ohhhh and ahhhh again.  With sincerity.

We made these for a client who was throwing a shower for a coworker whose wife is expecting.  We even packaged some up for the mother-to-be since she missed the work festivities.  Best wishes to the whole family!

New Tags

New at Le Petit Buttercup: We make personalized tags for every occasions.  (You probably noticed them in the latest posts...it was not a very well-kept secret.) We will be adding the standard designs and pricing to the site in the weeks to come.  In the meantime, don't hesitate to drop us a line with any questions.

Merci pour un professeur

A sweet little thank you for a teacher that took the time to help an appreciative student who missed a few days!

Girls Day Out

My niece asked me to make her some cake pops for her and her friends. They decided to spend a day together: picnic, quality friendship time and a sleepover! How nice to be sixteen! So to make it a little fun we made her these cute packages to bring on her picnic.

Every Picture Tells a Story

Hmmm....what does this picture tell you?
1) It is Jesse's birthday.
2) He is 4 years old.
3) His favourite colours are blue and red.
4) He is kind little fellow who wanted to give gifts to his classmates.

Jesse is the son of a friend of mine and I can attest that all of the above are true.  (He is also very cool and a fearless swimmer.)  Happy birthday Jesse!

Fall is in the air

We came up with two flavours for the fall season; pumpkin spice and "nutty" pumpkin spice. The "nutty" one is sprinkle with candied pecan for all you nutty people! Made with pumpkin and our own blend of spice, this cake pop is a perfect fit for the months to come. This flavor is only available for October and November. So indulge quickly.

Happy Birthday!

We recently delivered to a client who was looking for a sweet way to say 'Happy Birthday' to her daughter.  A box of cake pops with these friendly tags will certainly help do the trick!  The coordinating pink bow makes them extra special and continues the pretty theme.

Bows

This post is just a quick one to show what a difference a small touch can make.  Our client was looking for a simple way to dress up an order of cake pops that she was bringing as a thank you for a weekend at a friend's cottage.  It took just a little bright, summery and casual ribbon to make these cake pops look extra special.  A lovely thank you indeed.

Marathon Pride

My sister-in-law (me being Stephanie) turned 42 this year.  She has always led a very active life and has always wanted to run a marathon. Well this year was the year to make it happen: 42 km at 42!!!

For the past few months, she trained every day: getting up at 5.30am, rain or shine, cold or stinking hot... She was totally dedicated to the challenge. She also motivated friends and family to join in and participate in the run. Some did the 5km, others the 10km but no one brave/crazy enough to join her!

The race was this past weekend and her family and friends all went to cheer her on. It was truly emotional and very uplifting to see her finish with so much pride. To add to this challenge, she raised money for Parkinson's disease in honor of my mother-in-law. Zia - You are amazing and you have brought us much more that you can ever imagine; memorable moments of joy and little tears (good ones) that will be forever part of our family.

Little Miss Sunshine

Lemon cake pops are back and they are better than ever. Erika was determined to have a buttery-lemony cake pop to satisfy all the lemon lovers out there.  (That includes you, Mark.) I tasted it today and had to blog it now because it it sooooo lemony good!

Birthday Platter

A client asked us to create a platter for her daughter's 40th birthday celebration. She wanted a variety of flavors to offer her guests and also wanted to mention her daughter's name in the presentation. Stephanie came up with these cute little letter tags.  I absolutely love them.  Think of the messages you could create to mark an event!

And we're back.

We are so sorry to have left all of you without any posts this summer but it has been CRAZY! Good crazy - but crazy nonetheless. Lots of orders (Thank you!), kids running around (Play outside!) and vacations (Gin and tonic, please!) made the summer fly by. We are now working on some new flavors and planning for Halloween.  Yes, you read correctly, Halloween already. We will be posting ideas and packaging for you to look at very soon. We hope your summer was a great one!

Wedding Bells

This summer, we had the opportunity to not only provide cake pops as 'thank you favours' for a beautiful wedding but to also meet a truly lovely couple.  Forget all the stories you hear about difficult brides and disinterested grooms.  Deborah and Jon were gracious, decisive and charming - perfect clients in every way.  We were honored that they included our treats as part of their big day and wish them joy and happiness for years to come.

Giving Back: Breast Cancer Event

We want to thank all of our friends and family who participated in Walk for the Cure events across the country this summer.  We donated some cake pops to the Montreal-based event to help support such an important cause.

Happy Canada Day

The customer requested all the cake pops to be red and white -  what a cute idea for a Canada Day Party! To make sure everyone knew what flavor they were indulging in, we made tags with the flavor and a maple leaf to finish the patriotic decor.

Making a Splash with Cake Pop

These little babies were made for a teenage girl's pool party. I love, love, love these cute little flip flops. I've wanted to use them forever and what better occasion then a pool party! Admittedly, they were not so easy to make since the top of the flip flop is a different piece than the base. Imagine gluing that!!! (A special glue pen was needed - even better.) But it was worth it. They came out incredibly pretty; especially with the sparkly paper.

Hat's off to You!!!

Here is a graduation party give-away. A very considerate client wanted to bring a little presents to her grand-daughter's graduation dinner. The colors of the university were purple and yellow so we added ribbon to tie up the little goodies. We found scrapbooking paper with these grad hats on it and made little tags perfect perfect for the occasion.

P.S A little while ago Erika commented on the fact that I take better pictures then her. Well this time it is my turn to tell you our little secret to this blog: SHE IS THE WRITER! I clearly struggle with writing since I am french and it's just hard for me to put in words what I like to say. So, you see how great our partnership works?! She will be gone for another week (in the South of France might I add) so just look at the pretty pictures and read really fast!

Note from Erika:  Stephanie is very modest.  I simply edit a few things. Regardless, it is still a great partnership :)

Le Petit Buttercup is on Vacation

Hi everyone!

Cake pop production will be pretty quiet for the next week and a half as the bakers are on vacation.  We will not be taking any new orders - or updating the blog - from the 18th of June to the 28th of June.  Thank you for your understanding!

Stephanie and Erika

Saying Good Bye to our Teachers

Another way to give a little treat, this one is even a little more generous that the previous post! This box is filled with a different selection of cake pops for the teachers to indulge in. I hope all the teachers have a great summer -  you deserve it!

Teacher's Final Treat

This bag has three different kinds of cake pops wrapped in a beautiful paper just right for our teachers.  A sweet ending to a very long year. Thank you to all the teachers!

Sweet Thank You Treats

The client who I mentioned in the previous post also provided some elegant thank-you treats for her confirmation party guests.  Focusing solely on the silver and butterfly motif, these packages are elegant and timeless.

Come Fly with Me

One of our clients hosted a confirmation celebration recently for her daughter.  She added these lovely cake pops to her dessert table and maintained her desired "pink, silver and butterfly" theme.  They are truly festive.

Last Hat Box...I Promise...Maybe...

Hat boxes full of cake pops abound!  This one was put together for a birthday celebration* and the client requested the colour scheme.  I like how the simplicity of the box packaging is a good contrast to the little party that is going on inside.  The cake pops look awfully cute all nestled together in there!

* Can you guess how old the birthday girl is?

Another Box, Another Hat...errr...Cake Pop!

This larger sized hat box is filled with a selection of delicious cake pops.  We can decorate these boxes (they come in a variety of colours) as per the wishes of each client.  This particular client was looking for a simple presentation with white and silver.

Cake Pop Box

Although it might be amusing to find a tiny little hat in this box, finding cake pops would be better!  Luckily, it is filled with individually-wrapped cake pops perfectly coordinated with the black and white exteriour.  Nice things do come in small packages!

Gold Lust

How beautiful our cake pops are dressing up lately!!!! This one has a white chocolate coat with a gold shimmer finished of with a sparkly bow and a yellow diamond. Beautiful and delicious.

Getting to Know Us - ispymontreal

A couple of months ago, we were contacted by Jessica of the website ispymontreal.com for an interview.  For those of you who don't know the site, it provides loads of information for families on what to do around Montreal.  It is up to date with events, attractions, and reviews of children-friendly activities; have a look if you have not checked it out yet.

Our interview was just published on the site so we thought we would pass along the link.  (www.ispymontreal.com) It provides some background on how le petit buttercup came to be and some information about Stephanie and me.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know us a bit, Jessica!

Wedding Chic

Another version for wedding season; this one is covered in white chocolate and dusted with silver pearl dust.  Finished off with a beautiful sparkle bow and a heart shape "diamond"?  I do.  Definitely.

West Island College Anniversary BBQ

West Island College celebrates their 35th anniversary this year.  In an effort to share the pride and happiness associated with reaching this milestone, they hosted an outdoor BBQ and fair this past weekend.  They not only invited their alumni but offered free entrance to anyone who wanted to enjoy the festivities.  What a great way to say thank you to their community!

We were around to offer our cake pops as a sweet finish to an excellent BBQ spread.  The attendees were very appreciative and made us feel very welcome.  The whole tone of the event was super and we felt really lucky to be part of it.

Many thanks to Alex and Chantale for including us in this event!

Rocky Roads at WIC

Don't these little rocky road cake pops look delicious?  If you were at West Island College's 35th anniversary this past weekend, you could have tasted one yourself!  For some more details on the anniversary BBQ, have a read of the post above this one.

Yatch Club Fashion Show, Part 2

These pictures are just a few snaps of the table we had at the show described in the previous post.  The Ladies Committee is committed to introducing and supporting local businesses as part of the fashion show so we had some space with other vendors to display our products and talk about what we do.

Petit Buttercup Goes Fashion

Every year, the Ladies Committee at the Hudson Yacht Club hosts a fashion show.  The fashion show not only helps point everyone in the right direction for their spring/summer wardrobes, but it provides a venue for local business and raises money for a local charity.  This year, proceeds were donated to NOVA.

Erika is a member at the club and via some insiders* on the Ladies Committee introduced our cake pops to the organizers of this year's show.   In an effort to include entrepreneurs in the area, the committee ordered some of our products to serve after the show's wine and cheese.  Since the pops were being served to the attendees as they were seated at their tables, we made a point of labeling them so that the ladies would know what flavor they were indulging in.  Our little bites were a hit and we had a great night with all the ladies.

By the way, the show itself was amazing.  Neither the organizers nor the attendees were put off by the unseasonably hot weather.  The clothes were lovely, the emcees kept the tone light and pace relaxed and the models were super.  Notably, all models are members at the club and displayed a great range of looks and ages - the youngest ones in their 20's to a true role model at 90.  Wouldn't it be nice if all fashion was so inclusive?

Special thanks to the Ladies Committee for making us feel so welcome and putting together such a great event.

*You know who you are!

Build-a-Bear Party

Last week a good friend asked us to create cake pops for her daughter's birthday party.  It was a Build-a-Bear party and all decorations were pink and brown.  We sourced these great little bear ornaments and corresponding ribbon.  How lucky were we to track these down and how perfect they are for the birthday girl.

Happy birthday Victoria!!!!

More Party Pictures for Sarah!

Here are a few pictures of the table and the birthday girl herself.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthaday Sarah

Last weekend was my oldest daughter's 9th birthday.  In an effort to keep 10 nine-year-olds interested and engaged, we hosted a mad science party for her.  Flubber and fireworks making were both on the agenda!

The mad science theme made it lots of fun designing the dessert and gift bag table. I started by choosing a color palette for the table.  As good luck would have it, I came by some great scrap-booking paper decorated with what looked like (in the eyes of a non-chemist) atoms and molecules.  The colours were bright, clear and - most importantly - easy to match.  Not surprisingly, our famous cake pops made an appearance on the table.  At the demand of the birthday girl, we made vanilla and cookies and cream pops dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with colourful confetti that matched the paper.  We added a little mad science of our own to the cupcakes by sprinkling them with pop rock candies to give it an extra surprise POP!  We also had white chocolate covered Oreos, jelly beans (displayed in test tubes), coloured popcorn and other candies.  The best part though, was Sarah's reaction when she saw the table...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPAYA!

First Communion Cupcakes

While cupcakes are not part of our standard offering, we do make them from time to time to help out our clients.  The ones you see above were created for the client described in the post below; blue and white first communion theme.  We created both vanilla* and chocolate cupcakes with a little custom chocolate on top to finish the look. We again put a dress around them to help them mesh with the overall colour scheme and make them a little more special.

* Keep in mind that at le petit buttercup we only use really vanilla bean to flavour our vanilla cupcakes and cake pops.  You can definitely taste the difference.

First Communion - Take 2

Continuing with the first communion theme, here is another great option, this time for a boy.  The client's requirements posed a bit of a challenge for us at first - but we love a challenge.  Our client had based her party decorating theme around a strict blue and white colour scheme.  However, she knows our product well and is a big advocate of our maple, mint chocolate and rocky road cake pops.  Seeing as we don't like to change the appearance of those flavours - the outside is as good as the inside and the total look helps makes them so yummy -  we created the cute cake pop dresses you see above. This way, our client can have the cake pops she wants while still making them blend into the decor of her table.

First Communion - Take 1

What a cute package!
For a number of our clients, it is first communion and confirmation season.  As such, one of our clients asked us to create a gift bag to give away for her daughter's first communion celebration.  She had already determined the theme to be yellow and white butterflies so we obviously incorporated this into our packaging.  Inside each cute little package, we included a vanilla cake pop with a coordinating flower and a cookies and cream cake pop dusted with yellow shimmer powder.  They proved to be a lovely surprise for the lucky recipients.

Mother's Day Gift Box

WE ARE BACK!!!! Here is a box we made for our clients who were looking for a nice Mother's Day gift.  The package holds six cake pops of different flavors.  While we gave these ones a definite "springy-Mother's-Day-feel", they can be dressed up in a variety of ways to suit any occasion.

Anyone Home?

Our lack of updates has not gone unnoticed by us either...

This week, expect a rash of new posts chronicling our latest projects and packages.  I'll spare you the details regarding some ongoing computer and connectivity issues but give you my word that we'll be back on track shortly!

Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

My friend Chantal decided to have a spa party for her daughter's 11th birthday. Lucky girl! She wanted something to treat the guests with during their pampering so she obviously thought of cake pops. Chantal is a good friend ;)  A variety of Vanilla, Maple, Chocolate and Reese's Pieces pops made the girls and the staff very happy. To make them extra special, we decided to wrap them with beautiful scrap booking paper and - for the final touch - sparkle flowers to make them shine even more. Happy birthday Gaby!

The Sweetest Thing

A customer requested a cute cake pop to give away as a thank you for a baby shower. She told us the theme was pink with polka dots but gave us total "carte blanche" on the packaging. The photo above shows what we came up with based on her budget. Not only did they look great in her decor, the Oreo cake pops covered in white chocolate - with a small hint of pink and sprinkle of  white non pareils - are sure to be a huge hit with the guests.

Not so Plain Jane after all

We have had quite a few customers ask us to create a vanilla cake pop since we 'opened shop'. And, after about 20 different recipes....we have a winner! In all honesty, I am not a vanilla girl. I am a chocolate addict. Erika, on the other hand, loves vanilla so we wanted to create a pop that was pure and true to the vanilla flavour. I find that a lot of vanilla cupcakes are dry and "cardboardy"- that's probably why I am not crazy about the flavour as a whole. BUT this one is delicious! Made with real vanilla beans in the cake and frosting, it is pretty divine.

A little trick of the trade to improve all your vanilla baking endeavours? DO NOT over bake a vanilla cake or cupcake. You can get away with a little over baking for other flavours but vanilla is very finicky. Also, always lower your oven 25 degrees as it will make your cake or cupcake moister. OK, enough for the baking lesson, just order them from us!

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover...

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say thanks again for Easter as it was a great success. This week we decided to create a new flavour to tempt our customers. Erika came up with an 'ice-cream-inspired' idea for one - and what a good idea turned out to be!

Admittedly, this little guy may look a slightly rough on the outside but believe us, it's worth closing your eyes and indulging.  The recipe? Chocolate cake with lots of gooey caramel, marshmallows, chocolate chips and for the final touch...roasted pecans.  All that goodness dipped in dark chocolate coated with MORE chocolate chips and roasted pecans!!! It is Le Petit Buttercup's take on Rocky Road ice-cream.  But - if I do say so myself - way, way, way better. It's soooo good, I am officially addicted.

Note from Erika: Stephanie is back!  Look at the lovely photo!
