Girls Just Want to Have Fun!

My friend Chantal decided to have a spa party for her daughter's 11th birthday. Lucky girl! She wanted something to treat the guests with during their pampering so she obviously thought of cake pops. Chantal is a good friend ;)  A variety of Vanilla, Maple, Chocolate and Reese's Pieces pops made the girls and the staff very happy. To make them extra special, we decided to wrap them with beautiful scrap booking paper and - for the final touch - sparkle flowers to make them shine even more. Happy birthday Gaby!

The Sweetest Thing

A customer requested a cute cake pop to give away as a thank you for a baby shower. She told us the theme was pink with polka dots but gave us total "carte blanche" on the packaging. The photo above shows what we came up with based on her budget. Not only did they look great in her decor, the Oreo cake pops covered in white chocolate - with a small hint of pink and sprinkle of  white non pareils - are sure to be a huge hit with the guests.

Not so Plain Jane after all

We have had quite a few customers ask us to create a vanilla cake pop since we 'opened shop'. And, after about 20 different recipes....we have a winner! In all honesty, I am not a vanilla girl. I am a chocolate addict. Erika, on the other hand, loves vanilla so we wanted to create a pop that was pure and true to the vanilla flavour. I find that a lot of vanilla cupcakes are dry and "cardboardy"- that's probably why I am not crazy about the flavour as a whole. BUT this one is delicious! Made with real vanilla beans in the cake and frosting, it is pretty divine.

A little trick of the trade to improve all your vanilla baking endeavours? DO NOT over bake a vanilla cake or cupcake. You can get away with a little over baking for other flavours but vanilla is very finicky. Also, always lower your oven 25 degrees as it will make your cake or cupcake moister. OK, enough for the baking lesson, just order them from us!

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover...

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say thanks again for Easter as it was a great success. This week we decided to create a new flavour to tempt our customers. Erika came up with an 'ice-cream-inspired' idea for one - and what a good idea turned out to be!

Admittedly, this little guy may look a slightly rough on the outside but believe us, it's worth closing your eyes and indulging.  The recipe? Chocolate cake with lots of gooey caramel, marshmallows, chocolate chips and for the final touch...roasted pecans.  All that goodness dipped in dark chocolate coated with MORE chocolate chips and roasted pecans!!! It is Le Petit Buttercup's take on Rocky Road ice-cream.  But - if I do say so myself - way, way, way better. It's soooo good, I am officially addicted.

Note from Erika: Stephanie is back!  Look at the lovely photo!

Fiesta Party!

OK - I will not go into a full explanation to justify the quality of the picture on this one.  Please just see the previous post and know that Stephanie will be back soon...

This cute little package was created for a client to give away at her daughter's 7th birthday party.  The children were taking salsa lessons during the party so the client was looking for a 'bright, fiesta-theme - but girlish'.  The sparkly cake pops and the bright packaging exceeded the client's expectations and the children loved the chocolate cake pops.

40th Birthday Party Favours

Firstly, I need to apologize for the quality of the photo - it does not do this party favour justice.  However, my lovely and talented partner Stephanie is 'down south' for some well-deserved R & R with her family so I took the picture myself.  (Stephanie is our designated photographer and performs this task extremely well.  I tried to convince myself that her excellent results were in large part due to the fact that she has a much better camera than me but I have come to accept that she is just a much better at taking pictures.  She understands light, colour, shadows, etc. in ways that I can't even pretend to...)

With that said, I still wanted to show you all a party favour we made for a 40th birthday party.  The client requested the blue chocolate and the gingham ribbon and we took it from there.  I think this little package shows that you can produce a very pretty product for a reasonable price.  These cost the client less than five dollars per package but look like they were much pricier.  She was delighted with the final product as they fit in perfectly with the decor of the party.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our first Easter a busy and successful one.  Your support and feedback is appreciated more than you will ever know.  With our Easter orders filled and behind us, we'll be back to more reliable blogging over the next couple of weeks.  We have a few birthday-themed cake pops to share with you and we'll be posting our Mother's Day packages too.

A special shout out to Mother Nature for making this past weekend, a truly beautiful one.  June weather in April is always a nice surprise!
